Kelabba Madja consists of three large stones that symbolize the father's mother and son. In th e middle there is another stone that was made altar offering sacrifice for God Maja. Granite rocks surround the location that is a unique attraction for visitors
this place is also sacred to local people. In this place they  always do rituals in the form of slaughtering sacrificial animals that  will be presented to Dewa Maja, This offering as a sign of safety and fertility. Nowadays, the popularity of Kelabba Madja becomes a magnet for domestic and foreign tourists from Australia, Germany and others, this tourist attraction is highly recommended because you can also find the fresh nature of the beach and the hills so extraordinary.


MABALA  CAVE

Mabala  cave is located in Eimau Village, Sabu Tengah District. If you depart  from the district capital (Seba)  it is about 12 km , with an estimated travel time of 1/2 hours. You can use the private vehicle rental service, either motorcycle or car. To get to the location you have to walk through the footpath as far as 650 m while enjoying the view of Eimau beach from the height. The Cave  shaped like dome, elliptical, stone in the form of sturdy pole with the white moist gray, cave walls such as carving with a blend of maroon, brown, pink and golden yellow, roots that have become a tree trunk stand firmly up the dome.



Around the mouth of the cave is surrounded by old banyan trees. As a challenge, to get to the cave you should go down about 5 meters to the bottom using the root staircase of the banyan tree. But you do not have to fear, the age of trees that  stood hundreds of years  that making the roots grow very sturdy so it is safe to be tracked. There are 2 entrance alleys to the cave. Entering the left side of the cave, you will be fascinated with the breadth of cave space shaped like a dome with golden yellow walls as well as stalactites. Here we can still see the sunlight coming in because there is a gap of small holes in the roof of the cave. On the right side of the entrance to the cave, you have to use a flashlight because you have to pass through the narrow alleys and dark while bent through the stalactites . The alleys are several branches that can penetrate into East Sabu sub-district, Sabu Barat District, Hawu Mehara  and Liae sub-district.


NAMATA TRADITIONAL VILLAGE


This place is a tourist attraction located in Boddo  especially in Sabu West. This place can be reached by 15 minutes from the port and airport. If you want to see the life of the people of Sabu and local traditions tourists can visit Namata village. 

Namata Village is inhabited by some Mone Ama (stakeholder) namely Deo Rai (head), Pulod'o (Sun god), Rue (God of Disease), Bekka Pahi (God of the Earth), Maukia (God of Fertility), Kenuhhe (God of the sea). Anothr traditional house building, visitors can also see the sacred stones in Namata village. Some rituals are made of the mourning ceremony when there are members of the indigenous (Mone Ama) who died, expelled the diseases and the ceremony of   lowering the rain

                

PADOA TRADITIONAL DANCE



History of Padoa Dance
padoa Dance is a ritual traditional dance of Sabu Raijua. people often done in the end of the rainy season and every night on the full moon. This dance is usually done by all the villagers, whether male or female, old or young. They gathered together into a circular formation and were dancing along with singing that contained prayers or praise to God. In addition to being used for spiritual ceremonies, this dance is also often used by young people to find a match. Because Padoa dance usually followed by young people both male and female, so it can be a means to know each other.
















The Meaning of the Padoa dance

Padoa Dance certainly has a special meaning, which is to draw closer to God and expressions of gratitude for the grace that God has given them. Padoa dance is also one of the media to strengthen their unity and togetherness. It can be seen from this form of dance, where they gather and dance together without distinguishing gender or their social status.



   NAPAE BEACH



Napae beach Located in  West sabu  this beach has white and clean beach sand, you can also wait for Sunset by enjoying in the Gazebo with family or couple. The beach is also close to Seba Sea port and Terdamu Airport. This destination is close to Seba Sea port and Tardamu Airport. This makes it easy for tourists to reach this destination when in Sabu Barat.  White sand along the beach is an attraction for tourists. This tourist location is also equipped with facilities of the same Lopo/gazebo with a typical Sabu architect  and roof combination used Lontar and Alang-Alang leaves



 TRADITIONAL CEREMONY OF HOLE

Hole is a traditional ceremony and very popular among the the people in sabu Raijua. it held only once time a year and involved comunity local people, local tourist,and who have been stay outside of sabu island. they also participate in this ceremony and joyful rituals.
Hole means "tribute/Treasure or bala".

Tribute (Bala) is send out from the island of Sabu use boat hole (Mapiga laga)they put all the tribute into a rectangular box which is filled with green beans, rice, sorghum, coconut and piece of DADAP wood for weaving cendana wood and copra seeds). this ritual also offers sacrificial animals such as goats, chickens and puppies inside the Hole boat. usually this ceremony begin with cockfighting. Hole traditional rituals contain several values that  embadded in the social lifeof the people in Sabu Raijua, including the values of trust, values of consciousness, values of unity and integrity, ethical values, aesthethic values, loyalty and juridical values.


PEIU MANU (COCKFIGHTING)



Pe’iu Manu or  cockfight is a bloody sport between two cocks at the sabu Raijua  East Nusa Tenggara. This sport has been conducted from time to time by the local society and has become their normal tradition.
“This has become our annual event. This is mainly just a sport for the cocks, and more to a sacred tradition which is conducted by the local society, the local culture bearer said. Still according to him, every blood spilled from the cocks on Peiu Manu were a symbol of Peace.  Sabu Raijua society would never want any blood spilled on their land and peace is all they want. The cocks which have been prepared for the fight will be placed on certain arena that has been prepared by the society. Usually, some people will use the event for gambling. "Pe'iu Manu is a wanted event that has been awaits by the local society. Forget about the gambling, its a sacred annual event and a local heritage.




RAEMEA BEACH


Location of Raemea Beach is located in limanggu Sub-discrit , east Sabu and not so far from Biu Harbor. to reach Raemea beach its   take about 5o minutes from seba city by land transportation (28km)
This beach  is arguably special, not because of the soft white sand but also by the beauty of the lined bright orange cliffs along the beach. although the located in a small bay, this beach has a wide coastline of 200 meters. there has been no human intervension , sometimes there is natural waste (seagrasses and various other marine plants) stranded.
the lack of human intervention makes the natural beauty of Savu Island very natural and the most unique shooting object that you ever take.

Pahere Djara (Horse race)

Pehere Jara is part of the ceremonies Da’'a (month Dab'a) and Hole (the month of Bangaliwu). In the mornings men drive a horse around a sacred place or a sacred tree under certain rules. In the afternoon and evening, Pehere dJara was able to attract the attention of hundreds people to see. Horse riders demonstrate their riding abilities through unique arranged horse steps, this attracting aims tourists to come and visit this island.
Pehere djara displayed in Bodo and as  reminder of the invasion of locust pests that occurred several centuries ago. In order to ward off locust pests from the destruction of their crops, the men at that time were riding horses mounted with belts around their necks and legs. Then they circled around the field until the grasshoppers finally left. The harvest can be saved and since then Pehere djara in Bodo is held every year in February in order to prevent grasshoppers from coming back. Of course, Sabu and other islands are not areas affected by locust plague.



IKAT WEAVING OF SABU RAIJUA

Most Savunese women are involved in a thriving ikat-weaving tradition. Their ikat cloth has typical stripes of black or dark blue andisinterspersed by stripes with floral motifs. The sarong motifs of Savu can be divided into two large categories - Dutch Influenced motifs (below at the right) and older, tribal motifs (left). The hand spun cotton is incredibly fine and soft from wear The left picture shows a tribal, ceremonial ikat from the village of Masara. It is hand spun indigenous cotton with natural dyes - Mordana and Indigo. The picture below at the right shows a Dutch influenced weaving made of of Dutch trade thread with incredibly fine, tight ikat inspired by motifs taken from Dutch artifacts traded with the Royal Family of Sabu in historical times




LIE MADIRA CAVE


Lie Madira is a natural tourist attraction located in the District of Hawu Mehara (Mesara). In Sabu  language Lie means “Cave / Hole / Bunch of Large Coral Reefs”. If you were here you can imadiately looks the beauty of nature  warm bathing pool, with a very  unique interior, and a clear pool and totally beautiful, because  it gives a distinct impression for visitors who come. The view of this   cave can be seen the high seas (Indonesian Ocean), very amazing.  Some local people  said the water can cure various diseases suffered by humans and make us stay young.
As you know this cave  was once used as a hiding place of Dutch during the second world war they stay as a hiding place or base camp from their enemies.



Hurarti Castle

This site is located in the village of Keduru East Sabu District. can be reached within 2.5 hours  from the city of Seba Hurati  castle means a site of cultural fortifications and implementation of traditional rituals pahere jara or (Horse racing) in this fortification you can find historical relics in the form of large, cannons and former horse-headed houses. hurarti has now become one of the national sites of historic castle types which was built around the middle of the 17th century. according to the local people this castle was built in one night by Sea Man. although the sea man planned to be built 7 circles a night  but did not accomplish because the morning (the sun) had come



Snow Hill

a very amazing sight when we visit this hill. although this hill is not a stretch of snow but it is a giant white limestone pile with a position not far from the beach and surrounded by palm trees so that it adds to its excitement. to reach this place you can use a motorized vehicle or car








Kudjiratu Traditional Village

This village is located in the Eastern Sabu sub-district. in this village there is a traditional stone megalithic house called Ammu Rukoko whose roof is shaped like an upside down boat. the ingredients are made from palm leaves with three levels of stage. it is said according to the story of the local adat leader that the trees in the village have very high magical power, so that not just anyone can cut them down. If there are outsiders who dare to cut down  the trees in the village  the consequence are illness (sick)  and even  death. Some tourist to enter the traditional village Kudjiratu  they must have permission from the doorman. And the process of asking for permission must use traditional language. Therefore we cannot go there alone, but we must invite people who understand the ins and outs of language and customary poetry.



Cemara Beach

This beach is one of the beaches that will be most memorable for you if you visit Sabu Island. Cemara Beach is decorated with soft white sand and very clean, besides that the sea water is very clean with turquoise color. The sloping contours of the beach with rugged waves and a long coastline make this beach very suitable for swimming and other beach activities. Traditional salt farmers can be an interesting sight when visiting this beach
Location Cemara Beach is in the village of Jiwuwu, if you start from Central Sabu District, about 40 minutes drive from Seba City  and distance  about 18 Km.































































Ledo Hawu Dance

Ledo Hawu dance is a original dance from Sabu Raijua, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) In ancient times, Ledo Hawu  was performed as part of a death ceremony for certain highborn people such as nobles, traditional leaders, and tribal leaders. Because very sacred, this dance is only performed by dancers from certain tribes who have the highest position in Sabu society.
Ledo Hawu Dance is performed to keep away evil spirits (reject reinforcements) and deliver the spirits of the dead to eternal resting places. Ledo Hawu Dance is also intended to entertain the family left behind so that it does not drag on grief
